Syracuse FC announced Wednesday that it has signed Adnan Bakalovic and Patrick Castle to its inaugural team. Bakalovic and Castle were part of the Syracuse University team that made a Sweet 16 NCAA Tournament appearance last season. Both were members of the Orange 2015 ACC Championship and Final Four team.

5’10” forward Bakalovic will be a junior at Syracuse University. A native of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bakalovic moved to Utica, NY with his family in 2001. Before coming to SU, he played for Empire United Soccer Academy for four years, where he earned Academy Player of the Week honors and was named to Top XI at the Academy U18 Winter Showcase.

6’1” goalkeeper Castle will be a senior with the Orange next fall. Prior to SU, Castle played for Schuylerville High School. A team captain for three seasons, he helped lead the Black Horses to the 2013 League Championship. Castle was named the 2013 League MVP and was a four-time League All-Star.

Additional player signings will be announced in the coming days as Syracuse FC continues to develop its inaugural roster. The team’s first ever game, against NPSL defending champions AFC Cleveland, will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 20 at OCC’s David W. Murphy Field.
