New era starts with new owner Clark

A new era for the Rochester Rhinos started Thursday with the introduction of a new owner, a new team logo and a renewed pledge from the city of Rochester to help professional soccer thrive here once again. Rob Clark, a 35-year-old senior vice president for Utica-based Adirondack Bank, is the new man running the Rhinos after the first major ownership change in the franchise's 13-year history. His corporation, Adirondack Sports Club LLC, will own the team and its 2-year-old stadium, PAETEC Park.

U.S. Under-23 MNT Earns Berth to 2008 Olympic Games

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (March 20, 2008) – The U.S. Under-23 Men’s National Team clinched a berth to the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing this evening after defeating Canada, 3-0, at LP Field in Nashville, Tenn., in the semifinals of CONCACAF Men’s Olympic Qualifying. Freddy Adu led the way for the U.S., scoring the first two goals on free kicks in the 27th and 48th minutes, while Sacha Kljestan finished off the Canadians with a close-range strike in the 78th minute.

U.S. Women Capture 2008 Algarve Cup With 2-1 Victory Over Denmark

VILA REAL de SAN ANTONIO, Portugal (March 12, 2008) – The U.S. Women’s National Team got a first half goal on a header by Natasha Kai and a 49th minute game-winner from Abby Wambach to defeat Denmark, 2-1, and win the 2008 Algarve Cup.

The purpose of our web site is to show any new team that the Fan Club can provide an up to date web site to keep their soccer fans informed. The Fan Club believes the youth soccer players are a vital part of the support for a professional soccer team in Syracuse. Although our main focus is the return of a professional soccer team to Syracuse, the Fan Club will also work with any soccer organization in the area. Have any soccer news? We would love to post it to our web site. When a soccer team returns to Syracuse they will be a new organization name and a new team name. Regardless of the name the Fan Club will be here to support the team and the fans.

The Syracuse Soccer Fan Club is trying to get an idea of how many dedicated fans are out there. To do this we are starting a Season Ticket Registration. We are looking for people that are willing to pledge that they will buy season tickets. For more information check out the message forums. Then send an email to:

We will compile the list. When a new team does return to Syracuse your information will be passed on to the new mangagement so that they can contact you about season tickets. This is just a method of collecting information on dedicated soccer fans that want a new team in Syracuse and are willing to support it by pledging to buy season tickets. Men's National Team U.S. Earns Comprehensive 3-0 Win Against Poland

KRAKOW, Poland (March 26, 2008) — Goals by a pair of defenders and a swerving free kick from Eddie Lewis paced the U.S. to a convincing 3-0 win against Poland as the U.S. improved their lifetime record against Poland to an even 7-7-2. Landon Donovan provided both assists on the first half goals from Carlos Bocanegra and Oguchi Onyewu as the U.S. remained unbeaten in 2008, posting a 2-0-1 record.

Rhinos fire Calloway; Tilley may get job

During his introduction as Rochester's new owner last Thursday, Rob Clark hinted that the Rhinos would have some big news soon.

Monday morning they delivered it, announcing that Laurie Calloway is out after three seasons as head coach. The surprising move comes just a week before the Rhinos are to open training camp and 38 days before their season opener on May 2 in Charleston, S.C., so a deal for his successor is probably already in place

U.S. Under-20 Women Fall to Canada, 3-2, in Title Game of Cyprus Women???s Cup

LARNACA, Cyprus (March 12, 2008) -- The U.S. Under-20 Women’s National Team lost in the championship game of the Cyprus Women’s Cup 2008, losing 3-2 to the full Canadian Women’s National Team. The U-20s head home with four excellent matches under their belts against full Women’s National Teams, having beaten Scotland (2-1) and Holland (2-0), while falling to Russia (0-2) and Canada.
